Sometimes, dated simply won’t do. Segal McCambridge, a U.S. law firm headquartered in Chicago, partnered with J.C. Anderson to transform their Willis Tower office into an open, modern space complete with custom details, thoughtful amenities and upgraded technology.

Client: Segal McCambridge

Location: 233 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago, 55th and 56th Floor

Area: 60,000 sq. ft.

Construction Schedule: 12 weeks, Phased

Completion Date: 2019

The complexity of this project was centered around a significant renovation within a fully occupied and functional law office. Preplanning included developing a timeline to meet the terms of the current lease, creating and adhering to a budget upfront, effective communication and limited disruption to the employees.

The JCA team created an open, impressive reception area by knocking down walls and installing custom glass doors, wood panels, and sleek marble surfaces.

Structural glass balustrade helps shape the office’s grand staircase. Paired with an oversized, strikingly minimalist light fixture, this became a dramatic way to connect the downstairs offices with the rejuvenating upstairs break room.

Break room
The firm’s law professionals can recharge in a spacious, amenity-filled break room with a neutral interior and sweeping views of the city skyline.

Rather than relocating Segal McCambridge employees to other floors during the renovation, JCA allowed for staged moves within the office, so that both teams could continue working. And because those employees were on site for the duration of the project, the JCA team prioritized a commitment to the highest levels of safety. We completed this complex buildout according to the upfront budget and hit every deadline, ensuring Segal McCambridge met the terms of their lease.
